I think this is an awesome time-saver (disregard the Fb video compression please):

I tried removing fly away hairs with the Median filter between the Frequency Separation layers a while ago and forgot I recorded this.
I know for sure this won't work for some images, but it will for many.
The idea is to run the Frequency Separation script (or set up manually) with a higher High Pass and Gaussian Blur radius - large enough that the hairs you'd like to remove do not show up on your High Frequency layer.
In the preview of the Median filter you will actually be able to see how much of it is enough.
Additional Notes:
- I always check the flyaways with the Solar Curve layer, that's what you see in the beginning and at the end of this clip.
- I am on the Low Frequency layer when I am selecting the areas which I will manipulate, then I use the Refine Edge option to feather the selection edges and after that I click Command + Shift + J to copy the selection onto a new layer above the Low Frequency layer. Then I apply the Median filter onto this new layer that contains the selection.
Even if you do not use Frequency Separation (I don't in 99% of my retouching these days) it still makes a lot of sense to cut your retouching time - especially for photographers who retouch their own work smile emoticon
Hope this helps!
