I love the lighting on your father in law, really strong, but something about the background leaves me a little flat. It's got some nice texture - perhaps it's a little too uniform? I wonder what it would look like if you could add some depth to the greys? Maybe if you had lit it with a gridded stobe or something similar?
Although, having said that, now that I've looked at it in full screen with a greyed-out background, I'm not so sure any more!
