Hi I've written up some of my experiences of creating fashion photoshoots as a guide. This is part 1 of 3

Would appreciate any feedback from the community as to whether or not it actually is of any use.
Thanks
Stuart
Hi Dan, thanks a lot for the feedback, very useful to read and I appreciate you taking the time to consider it all.
I was hoping that I did bring that across that I was discussing 'roles' rather than actual team members. Generally speaking, I am the production manager for all my shoots as well as Photographer and sometimes Art Director. So I agree with you that often these roles overlap and merge into one another but I clearly didn't bring across that concept clearly.
Good point about the photographic assistant. Should have included someone.
Thanks again, that was very helpful criticism.
Stuart
I'm no where near experienced as Stuart or yourself Dan. But wondered if the client was more of a Creative Director than an Art Director, if of course, you're working as a photographer direct to client than working with an agency that already has a Art and Creative Directors in place. Is that right?
Ahhh gotcha, thanks for that insight! Do you have plans to share more in Fstopper articles? ;-)
Slightly different perspective on Dan's comment re- the Art Director / Client role. More of my experience is in creating Social Media fashion campaigns and in Lookbooks. I've also worked in less traditional fashion set-ups in the start-up world. In some of those circumstances, the Art Director was not the Client.
In those circumstances, The Art Director brought together the team and interpreted the Client brief, in discussion with myself as the photographer, but then had to go back at certain points to get clarification or sign-off on the final images.
I think the key thing, I was hoping to get across is from a business perspective, make sure you know who is authorising your payment. I agree that in the case of magazine or catalog then the Art Director, will usually have that sign-off authority but not always.
I suppose what I was trying to write was make sure you know who is paying you and has sign-off on that.
