Over the weekend I shot a kids summer campaign. Here is a small preview.
Lighting details:
1 5 foot silver reflective umbrella camera left and slightly above me, some 10 feet from the models.
2 white v-flats on either side of the models for fill.
Great photos, legit should be a magazine right now!
I really love this type of lighting look. At first I thought maybe a beauty dish but then read you mentioned an umbrella. I was thinking about getting a 7' Parabolic Umbrella (strictly for studio or indoor onlocation work of course). Which one do you have?
I have and use a 7 foot parabolic quite often. I am a fan of the crisp hard light, and I like the even coverage head to toe. The 7 foot I have here in the studio is a Paul C Buff Extreme Silver Parabolic.
This image here was shot with a 5 foot softlighter, except that I took off the diffusion panel, and simply used the interior silver lining as a reflective surface. Because the kids are a lot smaller than the usual models I work with, the 5 foot softlighter ended up having a similar effect to the 7 foot parabolic I use on taller models.
