Hey Friends!
New to the FStoppers community, although I've been a reader and fan for a while. I wanted to gauge the community on the question: do you find photography to be therapeutic?
I personally believe it saved my life, which is why I started The One Project (https://www.theoneproject.co) the photography community for people suffering from depression and anxiety. You can watch my TEDx talk on my story here, if you're interested: https://youtu.be/CuJhTfxd0gY
I'm starting to see more and more stories and projects being circulated around in the news of people who are using photography as a way to visualize and make sense of complicated issues, especially with mental health. Love that it's becoming more well-known as a tool for healing, communication and building empathy.
Curious to hear your opinions, stories and experiences!
- Bryce
For me, nature photography is meditative. It's the only time my mind is clear without any thoughts racing through it. My only concern is staying quiet, surveying the area for life and camera settings. So yes - I find it therapeutic.
