Colorbanding in Skies

Hey guys, so does anybody have insight on how to eliminate colorbanding from the blue sky while on location? Is there anything special one is to do to eliminate it from even getting in camera? I have seen video's on youtube about ways to remove in post but would love to not even have to get this far. I shoot with a d810 and a tokina 16-28mm wide angle lens. Wondering if a filter would eliminate this or new lens?
