Had a first attempt at some headshots for an expedition team - they really wanted a serious, gritty look to compliment the tough nature of their challenge.

I must admit I have been lax in both my shooting and posting recently, perhaps due to the fact my wife has now retired, and we are spending a LOT more time together doing various activities.
I wanted to see how my 50 year old Canon FD 800mm f/5.6 s.s.c. would handle photographing both the Sun and the Moon.

These look good, but don't seem gritty to me. Maybe shoot to give more shadows, more contrast?
I would just take the to B&W or tone them. The faint color is slightly distracting to me.
