I wanted to see how my 50 year old Canon FD 800mm f/5.6 s.s.c. would handle photographing both the Sun and the Moon.

Hi, maybe adding some shadows and a little bit more warm tone, also b&w lacks of contract, a little bit, but I think it's more of a personal taste, looks good =)

Like MSP says, it is very light - but that's ok if it is the look you want. You might want to play with sharpening. Google for a tutorial and do your sharpening at final image size.
Otherwise, very nicely posed and lit - plenty of life - good shot!
