Seeking advice: How to do self-portraits (headshots)

Hi all! In short, I'm an actor and have gotten many headshots over the years. I'd like to do my own headshots at home, and I wanted to get some of your expert advice and ideas as to how I can go about doing so?

I have Canon t3i with the stock lens, as well as a tripod. I'm willing to go and buy a more higher-grade DSLR along with a good lens. My goal is to set the camera up on the tripod, put in the setting, and take shots using a remote control.

Can someone please let me know what camera they advise, as well as what lens would be best for self-portraits in a studio (home) setting?

In terms of lenses, I heard this one was good: https://www.amazon.com/Tokina-100mm-Macro-Digital-Cameras/dp/B000CMNL52

I appreciate all your help.

Thank you.

Camera doesn't really matter. Make sure u use a lens with autofocus and that is sharp.

And most important you must use good lighting 👌

I have to wonder why you'd want to do this, unless you intend to start charging people for headshots or you intend to pursue photography as a hobby or professional, its not worth the time & money it will take for you to produce good shots at home for yourself. As Patrik said, the most important thing is lighting. There are a million free courses on youtube showing how to light a subject and what gear to buy.
