New lighting setup

I experimented with a slightly different lighting setup for this session. In previous sessions I've had to sit large groups of mixed men/women or men alone. For this session I changed the lighting be a bit more broad and flattering to a female face. It's a semi-clamshell with a key softbox and a gridded softbox underneath with a reflector on the fill. Feedback welcome.

These look nice. I don't know if there's anything that you did differently between the first and second shot, but I prefer the light on her face in the second. It looks more evenly lit and less (slightly) blown out. That said, her posture / lack of bulky jacket in the first picture is more flattering on her body, but that's not a lighting issue :) It looks like there's a bit of shadow creeping in at the bottom of the frame, more noticeable in the second image; maybe this was shutter speed?

Personal preference but I like a bit more shadow on the sides of face for more definition, but as far as beautiful soft overall lighting goes, this looks great.

Thanks so much for the feedback! I'm still deciding if I prefer more shadow or not. I think it depends on the client, but I do tend to shoot more 'dramatic' usually. The background was just a lighting thing, I could clean it up in post (not shutter speed). Looking now, it is a bit more noticeable than I first thought.

The jacket in the second one is because the client's a doctor and they needed one with the white coat on.
