Thought I would share some shots selected from a actor headshot session in my Alexandria VA studio outside Washington DC. We did about 5-6 looks, depending on how you count, in about an hour and half. Wanted to give a decent variety expressions and looks he can pull off. We had a lot of other fun faces - some a bit more silly and playful - but decided this was the right balance.

Nice work. The color is spot on.
The 2 headshots with the hard edge lights are interesting, but that lighting style kind of seems intense for the subject and his expression. That perfect outline and edge detail looks kinda like the lighting on an athlete in a Gatorade advertisement or something (that's just what came to mind). Gotta be careful and go in and clean up those specks of dust that can catch the light on a black background with hard backlight. My eyes keep finding all the specks floating around his head.
I think overall my favorite is the yellow/green portrait - gotta love that color contrast.
So the hard edge light shots were meant to mimic the actor on set or stage and give the sense they are already a celebrity in the spotlight. I think it give the image a little extra pop. I get that there are probably some mixed feelings on it for a variety of reasons which is why I provided other looks as well without that look. the client really liked the look and selected 2 with it as well as two without that look.
