Hi there fstoppers, My name is Fletch and I have been playing around with photography for a bit as a hobbyist but i am now upgrading my status to serious hobbyist. I see people posting pics for CC and it has made me want to throw my hat into the ring to see what I come up with. Recently my class final made me have to get back into photography after a long hiatus. The project was headshots imitating an established photographer, I chose Peter Hurley and I believe I missed the mark on it but, my class loved the pics. CC is appreciated
What makes you think you missed the Mark?
Trevino, thank you for the question. I like the image I just think that i didn't get the whites right on the image. His are extremely well lit and understandably so with his set up.
Hi Tremainee, I think you did a pretty good job here. The only two things i would mention to you is watch for guys wrapping light around them. They loose their features in their jaw line and such. Try to get your lights closer to each other.the catchlights in the eyes seem as i the lights re almost 6 ft apart. The other ti bit i would watch is high warmth of over all image. he is extremely warm.. I would copper the back ground and get it to match 255 in the RGB Channels. I'm no expert by any means but thought i would share my 2 cents., good luck bud.
Thank you for the explanation, it was greatly appreciated and well received. I will incorporate what you have said into my next shoot.
Hey Fletch! I'm playing catchup here...I think you did great, I agree with Joshua regarding the skin tone and background, also try using just one light for some drama, it's very even which doesn't allow for much in terms of a dynamic feel, get one light in close and it will wrap nicely while defining the cheekbones as well. Also it could just be that he has really nice skin which I've seen, but if not you might have overdone it on the skin retouching just a bit. Overall nice work, looking forward to seeing more!
