Nandish Desai's picture

First post!!!

Hello. My name is Nandish Desai. I am a photographer based in Boston. I am looking to get in to headshot photography. Here are a few headshots of my wife I took a few weeks back. Shot with Canon 6D, 70-200 f2.8 is ii. With a beautydish and reflector as main light and with strip softboxes feathered to give highlights on side of the face and make the background white. Using yongnuo speedlights and transceivers. Going to try Dylan's style this weekend. I might fall on my face and buy his tutorial. :)

Oh man. Thats so detailed feedback. Really really appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Shot 1) She wanted to do a close up jewelry, makeup and red lipstick shot. I agree that I am learning, horizontal framing is better for headshots.

Shot 2) Thank you. :) I am always scared to clone stamp hairs around the eye. Since I know I took it off my eye keeps going there and gives a feeling I didn't do a good job. ;) As far as highlights in the shot, I used a beauty dish with a sock and brought it closer to her to reduce the specular highlights, however, I am not sure why I was still getting it. However, I tried FS and DB to lower the highlights. I will keep that in mind next time.

Shot 3) I do understand what you are suggesting. However, I was trying to get a super high key look. Therefore even the vignetting is white. I was using a white paper.

Shot 4) Its my least fav one. However, my wife loved it. She is really sweet and have been lucky to not get that look except when I looking through the camera.

Thank you so so much for the feedback.

You have some great feedback from Jerry Friedman. Your pictures are awesome and thanks to your wife for helping as the top model for you :) Keep it up

Very nice shots of a beautiful woman!
