Hello everyone!
I am new to Fstoppers, so let me introduce myself. My name is Karen Bueno, I am lifelong resident of Racine, WI. U.S.A. I'm not going to bore anyone with my past/ my family etc., etc.
I will just say that Through a series of "misfortunes" earlier this year 2015, June to be exact. I discovered the wonderful world of photography, and my "fortune". My fortune not being monetary at this point, but being that of meeting many wonderful people, but most of all learning and discovering myself, and the beautiful world that surrounds me. Six months ago I simply walked on by everything paying no mind to details, textures, colors, light, contrasts and so on. I started with my galaxy cell phone pointing and shooting. In July I was voted into a local artist gallery where I have sold 2 framed and matted photos so far. Short story shorter, got my hands on a used Nikon D60 with 15-55mm lens which I am using now. Hopefully I will be able to get a 300 lens for xmas.(Just throwing out a hint for my husband)
So yes, I am self taught, but professionally guided ( a couple of good friends are professional photographers who are mentoring me and give me "assignments" or lessons to learn and I am very grateful to them both.
So in conclusion, I'm just throwing myself out to ya'll. I hope to get to know all of you and your works. I have added an image url, I am hoping/asking that if you have read this far, you could maybe just take a moment and critique or even criticize this or my pics on my page (8 in all) so that I may learn and grow.
Happy Holidays
Happy-Snapping
Sincerely,
Karen Bueno

Hi Karen,
Welcome to the group. As a fellow midwest photographer it is nice to see your portfolio images on the winter rivers. Jut one thought for your Xmas present....an even wider lens...might get more use if your shooting landscapes and nature. One of my favorite lens on my D3300 is a Tokina 11mm-16mm f/2.8. I also have long lenses (upto 300mm) but they just don't get used much for landscape shooting. BTW...I can not get the url link to work.
