Hi Tyler and welcome!
For the tree photo, I would try something without houses in the background. They detract me from thinking "wow, where was that, I wish I could be there!". I would probably darken the trees more for a silhouette look, or lighten them a bit and give them some detail.
The boat photo would probably have been great during golden hour. Unfortunately mid-day tends to be (although not always) uninteresting, even if the subject and composition are fantastic.
As a final, more general note, I personally believe that watermarks are a major distraction 99% of the time, unless they are part of the artistic style of your work (like Nino Batista). Personal preference I suppose.
Wishing you the best; I hope you continue to stay active on this forum and continue to better yourself as an artist!
I agree about the houses in the trees, and I'm working on on finding a similar location and setting to recreate that (if it would only snow here!). In the meantime, I have had a lot of good comments on that picture so wanted to get a more knowledgeable person's input. As for the brightness, how would you go about adjusting just the trees (in either direction)? Because the sun and light is the brightness I want (though WB will be warmer).
The boat photo was captured foggy and misty, how would I bring out that feel more in post? (I feel like editing is one of my major weak points)
As for the watermark, I completely agree. I have since majorly scaled it down so it is less distracting, and would never print a watermarked photo, but I am debating ridding of it entirely.
Once again thanks for all the advice, feedback, and encouragement!
