The Forest Lake / CC + Feedback

Hi guys!

I hope you are all enjoying the weekend.
I would like to hear your thoughts on this photo of a medium seized forest lake in Sweden.

This photo is a 5 bracket shot, afterwards merged in Lightroom.

I like the tree lines in each side of the photo leads your eye in to the distance of the photo.

Cheers!

Mikkel,
Nice capture. It has a cool, moody feel to it. I love the way the clouds came out. To my eye it seems the far shoreline is just a bit titled to the left....a small nit pick on a nice image.

Thanks Michael!
I appreciate your feedback! I think you're right, when I just concentrate on that spot it looks a bit titled to the left. Easy and quick to correct in lightroom :-)

The reflection is absolutely stunning and I think you have a great composition in this shot. Congrats

Thanks Jayden!

Nice image. I like the simplicity of the composition. It's not a terribly technical picture in the way of composition or angles. It's pretty straight forward and that can be refreshing. Everything looks pretty good to me besides the tops of the trees near the edges look darker than the rest of the tree. It looks like you darkened the top 3rd of the image which has caused this. Maybe you can use the dodge tool to fix the dark tree tops. it will probably be a bit of a pain to do because trees are so scattered and you don't want the dodging to bleed out, creating a halo around the tree tops. Besides that, I'd say it's pretty nice.

Hi Kevin - Thanks for your feedback!
I have not done that much to the image beside stacking it in Lightroom and then change it to B&W. I have seen this before regarding the darkness of the trees, usually when I create these HDR images. I could do the dodging yeah, would take a lot of time indeed hehe :-) But thanks for your kind words!

I love the photo and the mood it conveys. Only change I might make would be to put the horizon either a bit higher or lower depending on which is more interesting. I wouldn't want you to crop the foreground rocks out, or the sky. Maybe next time zooming out a bit more and getting a bit lower to get more sky and rock with an offset horizon. Great job though, well done.

And i forgot to mention that the reflection is really interesting and appealing, which i love, especially in B&W

Hi Tyler!
Cheers for your feedback, much appreciated! I'll take your point of view up for consideration next time I'll go to the lake.

No problem! Only take it as a suggestion though, not a law ;)
