I had the pleasure of spending time with some of Ansel's original prints which were being displayed at a local museum. Man that gave me such a jolt of inspiration. If you ever get the opportunity to see his images as they came out of the dark room....DO IT! The re-prints just don't do the images justice. So I came home and tackled this image which has been giving me a lot to think over on a compositional perspective. I took this image this past summer and I like the basics, but I wonder if the large rock is just to much for the rest of the scene. I'd love to get your thoughts on it.
I don't mind the rock. I think the ridge line helps pull your eye further into the photo.
I saw his prints for the first time at Carlsbad New Mexico. At the time I didn't even know who he was but I loved his work. I now have a black and white cat named after him. :-)
Flipped Horizontally, foot path leads you to ridge and ridge leads you to blob of rock. Just because most people read from left to right.
Thanks Kolade...never thought about that.
