Majestic Yellowstone

New to this group and Fstoppers in general and loving all of the amazing photos, which are only inspiring me to keep on practicing. Landscape and Nature photography are what drew me to becoming a photographer in the first place. Although I earn my living off of portrait and product work, I never feel as at peace then when I am capturing mother nature at her finest. I'm sure everyone in this group shares that common passion.

I was able to capture this shot on a surprisingly quiet evening in Yellowstone this past fall as the Sun was setting just beyond the top of the frame. I didn't perform much processing beyond a slight shift to warmer color balance and a boost in the overall contrast. I enjoyed how it took on a painterly effect but the credit for that belongs to Yellowstone not me. Please let me know your thoughts, what you like, what you don't like, etc...

I look forward to not only sharing a lot more but having the pleasure to view all of yours as well.

Beautiful photo. My only critique would be the bush/tree in the left frame. Its not too distracting and I did not notice it right away. Again, beautiful work.

Hey Jeremy thanks for taking the time to have a look at this and send me your feedback. I can see now what you're talking about and will definitely be more mindful of those little things that creep into the frame

Great pic - have to agree with Jeremy though regarding the bush on the far left

Hey Dexter thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it!

Hi Tim,
Glad you've shared your image. This is a very nice image. I agree with Jeremy on the trees at the left and want to add a note on the bright sun light at the top of the frame. My eye gets caught there at the top of the waterfall because of it. I'm wondering if you could use a brush to cool the color in that location a bit to minimize the effect on the eye. I find myself including the sun on these shots so the bright light resolves at the sun, and with a small aperture get a few sun star rays to help lead the eye back into the frame...but that would be for future shot.
Thanks for sharing and congrats
Mike

Hi Michael, thanks so much for your feedback and taking the time to have a look at this shot. I will definitely take a page from your book next time I setup a shot like this and I look forward to sharing some more of my stuff with you.
