I just found out there will be a solar eclipse visible where I am currently located (Jakarta) in about a month from now so I'm looking for advice on how to photograph it. Thoughts on filters to f-stops and everything in between would be appreciated. thanks.
cheers,
Tris
Tris,
I don't think it should be to difficult. A reasonably long lens - it won't need to be fast as there will be plenty of light. A good stable tripod and maybe a ND filter if your camera doesn't have a super fast shutter. Just remember not to compose the shot using an optical viewfinder if you value your retina. Cover it up to be safe. The LCD screen will work fine. Focus will be infinity - easy. Hope for a clear sky.
