Nature Reclaims

This is an old concrete farm silo being taken back by vines. I liked the composition elements of man made lines and curves, juxtaposed to the natural vine structure. I'd love to get feedback on the composition before spending a ton of time printing it out to show.

It's a technically perfect shot to my eye.
Composition-wise, I think it's a very abstract shot, I do like the lines (orderly vs. wild) and that story about man vs. nature. Now that I've read your description that becomes clear, I'm just not quite sure if that becomes clear without the written context.

Thanks Patrick,
This started as an exercise to explore vertical composites as I have never done a study of that form. The image is a single shot. I made a two shot and four shot composite (below). With the four shot the subject becomes obvious. The single and two shot composites are much more abstract. I'm struggling on which image to print.

I do like the square composition!!
Well if it's a print for your Wall, I'd take the one that's closer. You know the context! (;

Square shot for me, and as Brenden mentions a bit of colour on the vines against the concrete (?) of the silo would make more of a picture

To me the concept seems a bit lost. It looks as if both nature and man lost. The structure is being reclaimed but the vines looks like they eventually died. I assume this is shot in winter and the vines are just dormant. I think the concept would be stronger if it was shot in spring with maybe a hint of life in the vines, a few small buds and leaves would strengthen the concept and story.

Very good observation Brenden. Spring is not far off. Thanks

Hi Mike,
I really like this shot - the battle between nature and man-made objects always catches my eye. I prefer the square shot to the shot of the full tower, both are great images but when I look at the full tower shot I think "Thats a nice photo" and that's it. When I look at the square cropped version it makes me think more deeply about the image which is exactly what good art should do IMO. I disagree with Brenden though, I think it shows that sometimes man-made objects are pretty resilient to the effects of Nature and gets me thinking about what the eventual outcome will be. Nice work Mike!

Thanks Paul. I am after that concept. I am leaning to keeping it abstract as it leaves open the interpretation to the viewer.
