Leif Hegdal's picture

Evening at the beach

Took this photo yesterday. It is a long exposure with taken at 16mm / ƒ/9 /102s / ISO 50
I am always open on feedback to how the shot could be better, or how the composition could have been improved.

This seems pretty fully realized, frankly. I'm wavering about the rock in the lower right .. perhaps it's a bit bright to have at the edge of the frame? One could easily burn it in a bit without fundamentally changing the picture.

I like that is has both near and far elements, and the rocks just beyond the beach form a sort of rough diagonal that guides us into mountains in the back.

The sky is pretty dramatic. Maybe you've gotten all the "juice" out of it that you can, but I'd play with small changes in color balance, and with the highlight and shadow sliders to see if I could wring just a bit more out. Playing with the hue, saturation, and luminence sliders for blue, magenta, orange and yellow you might get lucky, too.

TL;DR: looks like you succeeded with what you wanted to do.

Thank you for the useful and thorough feedback Stephen
