I'm very new to the photography world and would love to receive any constructive criticism that is available. I am by no means a professional, nor have I taken any classes for photography. Nature photography is just a hobby that I am very interested in.
The main challenge with this shot is that there is no part of it in focus. The grasshopper is out of focus and non of the flowers are sharp either. This makes it difficult for us as viewers to know what we are looking at. The colours and their balance are nice.
Exercise on showing one subject or matter or keep one item in your shots sharp.
Melissa welcome to Fstopper Community.
Please do not let the comments discourage you.
If you take them with right spirit and work on the feedbacks, you can be a great photographer.
Pink and green colours are diagonally opposite to each other on the colour wheel.
So when the come together they create a visually appealing image.
Your shot captures this concept really well. I think this is a strong point of your photo
.
If you are not sure about colour theory, I would recommend you read the brilliant article by Famous Landscape Photographer Ted Gore:

Every photograph is a story and most professional photographers use three important aspects to depict it.
1) Composition
2) Intensity and Direction of light
3) Main Subject
As a viewer, I am not able to determine what is the main subject.
The light is almost uniform through out the scene.
Most professional photographers, use a technique called Dodge and Burn to accentuate the light (or absence of it) in their frame. Human eyes naturally get attracted to brighter parts of the image. So by darkening the distracting elements of the frame, Photographers trick the brain to draw viewers attention to the main subject.
