Have you tried converting the blue to a tone that would match the natural color of the horses? I think that would be more pleasing to the eye and give it a more natural look.
Stand out? For me, this image as it is already does. That color is, to me, the fringe of realistic or natural yet not what i have seen or imagine i would see on a foggy morning.

As far as making this image stand out, i dont know that there is much else to do. If i were to go out intending to make an image similar but that stood out more, I'd probably try to get the camera low and with the horses coming very close if not right over the camera. Keeping the same foggy/blueish field.
I think it's a great image. Experiment with different tones, including B&W, see what makes you happy. Don't worry too much about what makes others happy.
The atmosphere here is dreamy and evocative but...I find the color a little bit strange and distracting, like other people. Really good image but why don't you try something different in tones? I love the porportion of the horses in the frame, really well done
