Loch Lomond - Scotland

A photo of a recent sunset over the water of Loch Lomond, Scotland.
Relatively calm conditions kept the water surface glass-like and serene, but the drop in temperature allowed mist to form and add a wee bit of drama to the shot.

Overall I am happy with the shot but I still feel it is lacking a wee something, I just don't know what it is. Any suggestions?

Great shot man. I guess the foreground element could have been a little closer perhaps on the bottom third line. Never the less, good effort!

Cheers for the feedback Rory.
I shot this with a 14mm lens quite aways back from the poles in the water, it was only because of the awesome resolution of the D810 that I was able to crop it to get this composition.

But I agree, if the foreground was closer it would probably be better. Guess I am getting my feet wet next time. ;)

Nice subtle displacement of colors. Agreed with Rory, maybe even a stronger foreground element.

Thanks for the feedback Sal :)

Nice image. I particularly like the color. I agree with the others that it would be stronger if the poles were further left and lower in the frame, but it's hard to say because I don't know if there was anything interesting to add to the right.
cheers,
Tris

Thanks for the feedback Tris. I was trying to get a balance between the poles and the mountain in the background with regards to the rule of thirds. The mountain in the background is called 'Ben Lomond' and is a much beloved for Scots and tourists alike so I just wanted to give it some prominence in the shot while not actually being the main subject.

But to answer your question, "no" there wasn't anything of interest to the right.
Maybe your suggested composition is one for the morning time, when the sun is rising from the right.

Firstly, Beautiful shot. If I was to be really picky Is it possible to enhance the rocks/ stones under the water in the foreground. I feel my eye travels down the picture and wants to see more.

Enhancing the stones? Now there is an interesting suggestion!
Thanks Brad. :)

I appreciate the composition because it convey the mind of the observer to the two focal concepts of this picture: the reflection (really well done and complete) and the peacefulness emphasized bye the central horizon. Great job and PP as well

Thank you for the positive feedback Stefano, appreciate it. :)
