I was interested in the quality of the out-of-focus mountainside, and the complimentary colour and texture of the wild grass in the foreground. Vigur Island in a Icelandic Fjord has no trees, and no predators. Eider ducks, puffins and arctic terns nest here, at the beginning of summer, and while the females tend to the nests, their mates fish, to keep the family fed. I lined up the framing I wanted, and then waited for a tern to fly through my frame, as many did.
This exposure was made with a Nikon D810, using a Sigma 50-500 at 500mm, ISO 2000, f6.3 at 1/1600 sec. Focus was manually preset. Colour profile: Adobe RGB (1998).
