I think I would recommend a horizontal (landscape) framing for this view. The vertical format ended up including a lot of dead trees in your foreground (more than half of your image), which if the point of this shot was to tell the story of a dying forest, makes sense. However, if you were going for a landscape view shot, then I think the most interesting part of your scene is the actual mountain range, the criss-crossing valleys and textures. So I would have framed it horizontally and cut out most of those dead trees. I also would have dropped your exposure a bit so you could avoid some of those blown out highlights.
