I know this is a cliché, but the must have camera is the one in your hand once you are here :)

I would be more concerned with having appropriate gear for whatever you want to shoot. Waterfall long exposures, the big vistas with everything in focus, northern lights, the amazing night life of Reykjavik?

In general I would say that a tripod, lenses with a zoom range from around 16mm-200mm and some of them with a big aperture (f/2.8 or bigger), remote trigger, and a camera that can handle high ISO (uo to 3200) if you are going for the aurora is the ideal gear for a visit here. Brand name or system is not that much of an issue in my opinion.

Wish you all the best on your visit here :)

Thank you so much! I am going to get a back up camera for any unfortunate accidents due to falls etc. I have the above. Ordering proper outerwear, shoes. Should arrive March 24 th. Suggestions on footwear? I have muck tall rubber boots and getting the ice things to go over them. Or should I go for waterproof hiking boots. All your comments are appreciated. Are u living in Iceland?? Love to meet up. Jen

You are welcome. Yes, I live in Iceland :) Waterproof is very important in everything, boots, outerwear and camera bag. Even if it is not raining, you will most likely be around waterfalls, and there you can have a lot of waterspray as you get close to them. So I recommend the waterproof hiking boots.

I will be starting a cross-country skiing trip on March 24th into the highlands. How long will you be staying here?

Be there til April 1st! Trying to plan everything to the T. I appreciate all ur information! Just shot on Oahu! Never goes just how you plan but I get that!

What are the top 3 places to shoot in your opinion?
