Jason Retter's picture

And some time past by...

So there I was taking photos and exploring my backyard (which happened to be the Tongariro National Park) and then I applied for a job and low and behold I ended up in Wellington. So I've gone from photographing snow, mountains and lakes to, well I'm still discovering Wellington.

These pictures from my adventures out and about around the greater Wellington Region.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Really nice but...

In the first photo, you have wonderful leading lines formed by the foreground piers going to ??? and conflicting with the leading lines of the clouds which actually do lead to the sun.

The second photo is too symmetrical for an asymmetrical subject and the colors seem to lean too much toward cyan but that's just me. I would probably crop it to a profile orientation, offset the lighthouse to the left side of the frame and shift the tint toward red.

The third is easily my favorite but I would have done something to mitigate the dark area of clouds, camera left. It's a bit distracting.

Thank you, Patrick,

I really appreciate your feedback... the placement of the sun was a bit of an afterthought in the first, and the next in the series felt a little flat on the foreground after the sun had left the horizon.

As for the other two, I'll certainly revisit these and see what I can do.

I really love the third photograph♥ It's quite beautiful.
