I spent Thanksgiving solo in Italy so I headed up to Tre Cime and did an 18 hour day at this iconic location. I started the hike at 3am so I could shoot a starscape and stayed through until I could shoot another one. I'm having a very hard time picking a favorite since I had such awesome weather to work with. My travel computer is not the fastest thing in the world so I'm currently converting 400+ star images to jpg so I can do both stacks and work on those files. However, I shot a 12 minute exposure while I was waiting for the moon to move behind the mountain and I really like how it turned out. I did zero editing to that image except for shifting the white balance to a cooler setting. I look forward to processing it for real and seeing how that turns out. The daytime image from the same location has a very different vibe. I really couldn't help but fall in love with the snow drift lines that worked amazingly.
The image I have of me standing on the cliff at sunset, I do have a version without me. I forgot to dump that layer in when I was processing this one so I will have to redo a couple steps to get that one finalized. I rarely have anyone in my pictures, but it really seems to work with this one. What do you think?
If you ever get the chance to go...the dolomiti are totally worth the trip!
Wow. Stunning. I like the image with one person in it - I think it bring to life how remote it is with one single individual.
Hey Peter,
I also like the pic with you standing at the edge. This way I have a better understanding of the perspective and size of the objects. It also guides my eye through the image.
The daytime image is great too. I like the cold appearance of the snow. It would be great to have a bit more space to the left and right of the image (make it wider).
Hi Peter
I'm also not good at having people in my landscapes but like the others, I have to admit it works very well in that case. Watching it, you can imagine a story about the photo. May be just clear up the shadows a bit on the mountain in the center. The sky is stunning !
Great shots Peter. I love the one with you standing there, great perspective. But I do find the contrails in the sky somewhat intrusive, and would edit them out. The shots of the peaks with the leading snow lines are super, great work.
Beautiful shot Peter!
Lovely work :-)
