Hidden Beach

It was perfect weather to take a day trip around Lake Jocassee in northwest South Carolina. This area is full of service roads that wind up the mountain and offer overhead views of one of the most beautiful lakes in SC. As we wound our way down the mountain to the lake, we found this area tucked away in a cove below a primitive campsite.

For those that enjoy trail riding with either ATVs or 4WD vehicles, this is a beautiful area where you can spend the day riding. Start at Horse Pasture Rd in Sunset, marked on Google Maps by "Foothills Trail Parking."

As always, cc is greatly appreciated!

Great shot Mark. I like the colors and the scene itself. To my personal taste, i find the sky a bit too heavily edited though

Thanks, Rudy! I agree about the sky... It's the one part of the image I haven't been able to make myself happy with. I'm thinking I'll spend my next rainy day redoing the sky and masking it in.

Hi Mark
Looks like a photographer paradise !
The photo is great but I wouldn't crop the top of the trees on the right.
Might worth some long exposure shots too.

You're right, Jocassee is a photographer's paradise. The trail to get there winds up and then back down a mountain to get to the lake, and every turn gives you an amazing scene. As for the cropped trees on the right, that's the result of a composition error on my part. I will definitely spend more quality time in this area when the weather is a little better, though. Thanks so much for the input!
