Porthcawl lighthouse, south wales

This is a place photographed many times, it's local to me but I always had an image pictured in my mind that doesn't just show the scale of the waves, but the scale of the wall and lighthouse and to do this I needed to shoot from down on the rocks as the tide was coming in. Once or twice I had to quickly move my gear as whitewater and seafoam came towards me. Challenges: we have a 4-5ft swell with a low high tide, sunny with rain showers. I had to wait for the sun to break through and light the side of the lighthouse whilst having a wave hit the wall.

Having lived in Maine, I'm quite familiar with the large swell and tide phenomenon, and have had to take the same things into consideration. You have done a beautiful job of dealing with the challenges to create a beautiful B&W image!
