Colorbanding In Skies

Hey guys, does anyone know how to eliminate colorbanding in blue skies? I shoot with a d810 with a tokina 16-28mm Lens. Is there something I should/could be doing while on location for this not to occur? Does a filter eliminate it? Is it my lens? I really want crisp, sharp skies without having to do the weird tricks in post like adding noise.
Any help is super appreciated!

Can you post an example?

Sure, Alex...
Let me know what you think. I feel like they ruin many good shots where there is a solid blue sky. This sample image isn't the worst one either, just the quickest one I could grab.
Thanks

I assume it's this way straight out of the camera? Are you shooting Jpeg? The sky reminds me of when I save an image for web, most notable as a .png or .gif... but I suppose it could be a low quality jpeg as well. That's my best guess. The other option would be if you were doing a lot of post on the sky (brightness and contrast), but I have a feeling that is not your issue. If none of the above, I don't know what to suggest. It doesn't seem normal to me

Hey Robert, I only shoot in raw, otherwise yes your would be right. I just read that I need to make sure 16 bit is selected in photoshop. I did a test photo and I could see the difference, and I am going to try some more to see.
Thanks for replying though!
