Pensacola Beach Pier 30 Seconds At Night

Wish the fog / haze would've lifted! Originally went out to try and get some astro photography done. Instead having the haze made for almost completely black backgrounds to the images. Really like how it turned out.

Sony a7r (gen 1)
- Rokinon 85mm prime
- f/5.6
- ISO 250

It's a very long pier and upped my f stop to try and get a good length of it in focus. Shot at Pensacola Beach on the Gulf of Mexico.. The "Emerald Coast"

nice

Thanks!

Indeed it has a cool look to it. Alsmost studio like as there really only is the piere in the image.

A point of improvement would maybe be the compositional placement of the piere in the frame, i would even go as far and centre it on the right side and try to minimize the dead space on the bottom a bit.

And maybe to rise the apeture more to get everything really sharp and graphic.

I don't know if you have the chance to re-visit there or even the the same conditions again though.

I go down there about 4 times a year and shoot the pier during the day mostly. Planning on doing this same shot with a wide lens next time. It's a long pier. 448 meters long.

I really like this image. For some reason I think if it was flipped horizontally I think I’d like it even more. Great shot!

Thanks! Will shoot it from the other side next time :)
