Not sure about you, but I don't really like doing the easy touristy things in a new country.
I'd rather pack a light bag and hang where the locals hang, eat with the locals, and travel like the locals.
In this shot, I was indeed travelling with the locals, on a trade vessel heading from Siem Reap to Battambang, along the flooded (wet season) farmland of central Cambodia.
The diesel engine was loud, the insects were the size of baseballs, the heat was almost unbearable to me) and the path was slow... just how I like it...
In this shot, the wide floodplain narrowed and we had to give way to the smaller boat carrying supplies into a remote village. We ended up getting stuck in the tree tops you see here (yes trees... remember this is wet season, and the road is about 10-15 feet directly below us - as are the trees!).
About 30 minutes later we were free to continue our long voyage to Battambang (around 7-8 hours) and man did I sleep well that night!
