Hi! I'm new to this group (and Fstoppers as a hole) and just wondered what peoples opinions were on my use of the 2.39:1 aspect ratio.
I'm a big fan of using it in but I just wondered what other peoples opinions were, do you think it added to my picture? (considering the rest of the above image was a fairly empty clear sky).
Thanks :)
Hi Oliver. I think this is in the eye of the beholder. Some might think it great and want it on their wall. In the right place that could work.I would like to see the original colours. It has an abstract quality in that you don't really know what you are looking at.An island? Sea? Desert? Fog? Blue sky, blue sea and fog or cloud could give you some good colour contrast. It's good to experiment with aspect ratios so keep up the good work.Geoff
Thankyou. I'll have a mess around with a colour version and see how it turns out :)
I liked it. In fact i went straight into Lightroom and tried it on some of my pictures.
I crop down to "long flat" aspect ratios quite a bit. I don't try to target a specific ratio, I just go for something that adds to the pic. It adds to you pic with the long line of the island. Here is a pic I took, where overall the pic is kind boring, so I cropped it down to help.
