Hi all,
New here at Fstoppers and are really looking for some constructive feedback and honest critique on my work in order to continue to develop as a photographer.
This was shot in Telemark, Norway at lake Borgsjå on a Canon 6d with EF17-40mm f/4L USM at f/16 22.0 mm
The foreground is well exposed and sharp but detail in the sky is blown out. A GND filter at the time of shooting or a RAW file processed at different exposures and blended may help this.
I agree with Anand. Either a grad filter, or, expose for the highlights and raise the shadows in post. A good starting point is to set your camera on ISO100 and aperture priority at f8. Take a shot and see what the camera chooses for the shutter speed. Now, set the camera in manual, ISO100, f8, and double the shutter speed that the camera selected for the test shot. Check the histogram and it should be pretty close.
Thank you both for your feedback. Added a diffrent shot from almost the same place where I have better control of the highlights in the sky.
I would have waited another few minutes until the sun was partially set and then shot with a sun star. The second shot I think is better but the colour transition on water from the sunlight seems a bit unnatural. Did you bracket this shot? You should be able to blend the exposures to smooth things out
