A couple shots from a recent trip to the falls in Hamilton ON. One is a selective colour image that turned out well. The other is a mirrored image shot very low to the water. I wanted to create a more epic feeling to the image.
Mirroring is where you take an image, crop it in an interesting way, duplicate the layer, flip and align the two layer edges to create a perfectly symmetrical image which is mirrored down the center. You can mirror an image on any angle to create some bizarre effects.
This waterfall has a round rock wall that curved around only one side in reality. My goal was to make it feel more grand and enclosed or secret. It effectively doubles the size of the falls and the pool while giving a much more interesting visual than the plain grey clay embankment that was actually to the left of the falls.
both are great. that second one works really well with what you have done .. really pulls you in.
Thanks! the mirrored one makes me think of a fantasy scene for some reason. lol
Daniel what did you mean by mirrored, Let us know what you did for that second image?
