Hi! I’m new to Fstoppers and this group...the posts are amazing, as are the talented photographers. I’m an amateur photo enthusiast. This photo was taken in Yosemite National Park on cold February day at dusk. This is a natural phenomenon that occurs in February when the setting sun strikes this tiny waterfall and turns the falling water to a coppery fiery color. It occurs when there is enough snow melt to create the falls, the sky is clear or the sun breaks through clouds and shines on this delicate waterfall. This was taken in February of 2017. Thank you for the add!
I've seen this taken by a couple of other photographers. You've done well! I'd love to get the opportunity. Did you get this on your first attempt or did you have to visit the site more than once?
Hi David.
Thank you!
I was lucky to photograph this event two years in a row. Both times in a single day trip. My husband is a weather buff, he determined the most optimal days for our excursions. We connected with many wonderful photographers. Some who’d made the trip for 5, 10 ... or more years without getting to see or photograph this event. It’s amazing and I feel fortunate to have witnessed\photographed it.
