Snakes sniff and sense through their tongues.. this particular one was quite tiny (about 10 inches in length) and was roaming around. Shot in Agumbe, a rain forest in Karnataka, India. It was a bit difficult to shoot it with the tongue out, as they do it only for a second or so, which took more time than I expected. I couldn't shoot burst shots, thanks to my flash which takes a good amount of time to recycle. Nikon D600, Tamron 90 2.8 and flash fired - diy diffuser.
