Bamboo Forest at Oconaluftee

I took an afternoon drive yesterday to Cherokee, NC, on a mission to photograph a colorful sunset over the Blue Ridge mountains. The weather, though, wasn't very cooperative. Since I was already in the area, I decided to walk through the bamboo forest at the Oconaluftee river.

As always, CC is greatly appreciated!

I really love these, Mark. The first image reminds me Ansal Adams', Aspens (attached).

With the bottom image (keeping in mind I'm on my phone), I'd wouldn't mind seeing an HDR treatment, or similar, to deal with the brightness. I'd also like to see it focus stacked to account for the softness in the foreground. And just because I'm curious as to the difference it would make, I'd be interested to see what the second image looked like with Kubrick style symmetry.

In any case, both are really beautiful images, and I'm reaching with the above comments. :)

Thanks so much for the great compliment, William! For the second image, I'm still playing around with this one. I'm using these to learn Lightroom, so I'll definitely put your suggestions to work to see how it comes out. I'd thought about more of an HDR look for the 2nd pic (it feels a bit too dark and shadowy to me), so that's on the to do list for this weekend.

Hello Mark,

The first photo is absolutely phenomenal. I love how you isolated the light to create drama and direct our eyes.

Thank you, Cendrine! I really lucked out to get that little ray of brightness. The bamboo there is so tall and thick you don't see much sunlight at all.

It makes the photo even more epic then. :-)
