Walker Pass is 5400ft up in the high desert area of Kern County. The Joshua tree's here are abundant and always provide interesting foreground. I felt lucky to be there on an evening where the Milky Way was horizontal and a few clouds had survived into the late hours. The mix always provides a bit more drama to the sky. Funny thing about this image is the fact that this area is the parking area for some unmarked trails that lead back into the tree's where i have shot dozens of times before. Never considered just shooting the dirt loop that went around this clump of Joshua's where normally my jeep is parked. Funny how sometimes the good compositions are ignored on the way to perceived better ones. Shot with the Nikon D800 and the Zeiss 15mm Distagon prime. Lighting courtesy of my handy dandy LED flashlight that comes equipped with a light bar. 30sec at f2.8 ISO 3200
Nice shot! I would have maybe tried to light up the left foreground a bit more. Not completely, but maybe a strand of light going from the cacti to the the lower bottom corner.
I think you painted the scene just right— not enough to overwhelm the sky but interesting. Awesome shot and I look forward to seeing more of your work.
