Sunrise on the heath of Posbank

Posbank is the name given to the southern part of the Veluwezoom National Park in Eastern Netherlands. It is famous for its gorgeous hills, its heather blooms in late August, and its wildlife made of wild horses, Highlands, deers, sheeps, and boars.

Posbank is definitely one of the most beautiful spots in all of the Netherlands and I had long wanted to explore it myself. I finally had the chance to drive there (from Belgium) this past weekend and was very lucky to get both a beautiful sunset and then a fiery sunrise, pictured here. We were a bit disappointed as this year's blooms were diminished by the recent heat wave that struck Northern Europe but the beautiful light definitely made up for it.

This particular photo was taken with my D7100 and a 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 VR lens.

Nice work Remy. I have never heard of this place before so thanks for the pic and the education.

Thanks a lot for your kind comment Geoff!

nice pic i wish you went vertical and tighter to get the horses in the mid foreground but i love these minimalist photos. i can't tell did you have zoom to infinite or did you focus the plane on the small tree center? and is this natural color or did you transfer to sepia?

Hi Joseph, thank you for your comment! I indeed got vertical shots but I felt this one was quite powerful by showing a lot of the hills in the background. As for focusing, I did focus on the center tree (you can zoom in to check out, it's in focus). As for colors, this is pretty close to the overall look we got IRL thanks to the already high sun and the thick mist.

very cool!!
