We were visiting family at the lake yesterday, and as the sun began to set a major thunderstorm started rolling in. To me, at least, the conflicting colors of the sunset and the storm made for a great image. Of course, this was another one of those times that I didn't have my "real camera" with me so I had to use my iPhone with the ProCam app. Overall, I'm pretty content with the results.
Taking into consideration the gear used (which produced some graininess), what could I have done to make this image better? I'll be returning in the next day or so (and THIS TIME I'm taking my camera!) so any CC on composition, etc., is greatly appreciated!
i had a composition similar to this and i got railed for it go take a look at my review of my last post
TBH, the railing is why I posted the image on Fstoppers. lol! I've taken a number of beatings on this site, but my photography has grown in leaps and bounds because of it. I have 3 different sites I'll post images to for feedback... 2 sites give me general feedback from weekend snapshotters and weekend amateurs. You normally get the "oh, that's so pretty" feedback, but nothing with substance. However, when I really want to learn more about composition, processing, proper color saturation, etc., I'll post here.
A lot (possibly even a majority) of the photographers on this site are semi-pros to pros actually working in the field and selling their art. The critiques and advice I've received here has been invaluable. The critics here are harsh but honest -- you really know where you stand -- and when you have an image here with 4 stars, you know without a doubt you've earned it.
The best thing to do around here is to take the critiques not as "harsh," but as "to the point." You need skin as thick as leather, but you can learn a lot.
your absolutely right i went to school for illustration so I'm fine with harsh. if this is the place to learn then this is where i will hone this craft i don't expect to learn everything in a weeks time so i will continue my learning experience
