i know this is a boring subject to review and its not a very good composition but i am putting this up purely from an editing standpoint ....am i heading the right direction? am i over doing it? is it enough or too much?

I'm think that you are in the right direction. Panorama pictures (3 ... 5 pcs) will be in mind what you might do (next time). The sky is not interesting now, but may be the tree's reflection is. I look forward to fish, bird, airplane, fisherman, boat or something in the picture, somewhere far away, when the image "starts to talk". In any case, the picture should not be zoomed away, preferably closer, as tree reflection is best in the picture.

The processing is nice and subtle. You brought out the details in the shadows, and separated some of the colors in the sky to help them stand out. In a world of over the top photos, a nice subtle edit goes a long way.
