Hi everyone,
Totally new to FStoppers (this is my first post). I joined because I know my pics aren't anywhere near as good as my non-photographer friends keep telling me, and i'm looking for constructive advice from people who know what they're talking about.
This is a shot from my first trip to Iceland, late last year. We were doing sunrise shots of the waves coming around the ice on diamond beach, when I spotted this small piece with a convenient lens sized hole in the middle.
It's a good concept, lot of potential. The sun is a bit off centered so it feels a bit weird, and a lot of us out there are gonna wonder how it looked a few minutes earlier (could be hours if it's Iceland) when the sun was close to the horizon, with less harsh light. At the moment it feels too bright and too sharp, for a location that's probably (never been there) relaxing and peaceful. Hope it helps a bit.
Thanks, exactly the sort of thing I was looking for :) I wish i'd spotted that piece of ice earlier when the sun was lower.
The location was anything but relaxing and peaceful, it's quite an exposed beach, it was around freezing before the wind chill, and the wind was definitely chilly.
Great capture. Photographs are moments frozen in time. This is frozen twice.Abstract close ups of the ice would also have been interesting.
as much as i hate a sunrise/sunset through a crevice or hole i do like the play of the reflection on the ice
