I took this at dusk at the Salton Sea. Flocks of these pipers were all around, but then saw this one on its own skimming the water close enough to shore for me to get the shot.
mike i mentioned in your profile there are only a couple thing that are holding this back 1 is the horizon line 2 is the bird is so small on the image nothing you can do about that and 3 not sure about the detail because of the reduced size image to the jpeg but those colors are very nice. did you actually get the bird center frame or did you adjust in post?
Thanks for the specifics Joseph! the bird was mostly centered when I shot it, but I thought the square crop suited the picture best so that let me move it around. I'll throw it into PS and see what I can do with that horizon line, though I am very much a newbie in regard to that program. Thanks again
I actually think this a pretty awesome minimalist image. I could nit pick a few small things (like anyone can do with any image) but I like this one, Mike!
I love it Mike. Not perfect but you have captured the moment.
Thanks Geoff! Much appreciated

Thank you!
Awesome image, I love minimalistic photos. The only thing I would do is remove the horizon or crop it out.
Awesome, thank you!
