Salzburg. Need a critique

Hello!
This is the shot from my summer weekend.I've tried to created something more unusual than the common Salzburg photos. So, I need any critique: about composition, post-processing, everything!

a tip i just learned not more than 10 minutes ago ....dont shoot in broad daylight it washes everything out ..early morning/late evening or foggy conditions are preferred to get the best colors and not be washed out from the sun. the vantage point is ok may want to focus stack so the image is clear from front to back. sky is a little dull but that is not in your control but this is a great starting point.

Yes, I understand. The light conditions were not good. So, it is my first and probably the biggest problem here.

Joseph is totally correct. I would add blue almost cloudless sky is uninteresting. But the biggest issue is that ones eye goes to the brightest spot, which is the rock. I dont think the rock was supposed to be your focus but it is. Use a telephoto lens or get nearer to the town and cut out a lot of the sky ig it is not interesting. I see u r trying to have foreground elements of the rock which is usually good in a more simple landscape or enhances your subject of focus. This rock detracts.

Yes, probably these rocks isn't so interesting to place them in a foreground. My idea was to create a leading line to the castle with these rocks.

Yes i get that u wanted to use the rock but it draws more attention to it than the real interest which is the town.

I agree, for the most part, with what Joseph and Lorretta said. For me, the biggest problem is that the big town at the back looks tiny due to the perspective and focal length.

It might be best to try and simplify the composition a little. You've got some rocks randomly being cut out of the frame on the bottom and the left. Adding to that you have a random patch of green coming in near the subject, on the left.

If you have a chance to come back with some better light, and a cleaner composition, you'll be golden.

The way I see it, this patch of green from the left side should be as a leading line to the castle, moreover, i've tried to create the leading line with these rocks somehow. Obviously, it wasn't as good as I planned.
The major problem is the bad light, but, there was only one day in Salzburg for me... So I couldn't get the better light here: (

This is actually not at all a 'bad' photo. But I do agree with what's been said - it depends on what you want to achieve. The castle is so small in this composition that it's not immediately obvious.

I think what you want is for the rocks to serve as scenery to the castle. In this shot, the castle serves as scenery to the rocks. The simplest single thing you could have done at the time would be to move closer to the castle to make it appear larger (maybe - been a while since I was there!).

The image seems to be to busy as it forces the eye to take in everything. what or where was the focal point as it seems it was the rock. In order to reduce this eye movement, One could have used a polarized filter as this would have highlighted the foreground colors and darken the sky blue color. Also, the time of day should have been accounted for as some daylight or evening hours are not suited for these types of images. The Magic hour would have best suited this image unless there was fog predicted on that morning. The image might have worked better as an early morning (depending on the sunrise direction) or an early evening shot highlighting the towns lights in the background
