I’m new to the group and this is my first post on Fstoppers. I feel a little intimatated as the work here is very good.
Sunset from my rooftop. So often there are no clouds at sunset or sunrise in SoCal but in the fall we get the occasional fiery sunset.
The air was quiet and still, sounds of the city could be heard as the light subtly changed from yellow to red to dark.
Great colour and inspirational sunset Jerry. If anything with these shots I try to leave just a little bit of darkness at the bottom of the picture. You could crop this a little. I like your description of what was happening also. Don't be intimidated as you have as much right as anyone to post a picture and everyone here was an absolute novice at one time.
Welcome! No need to feel intimidated, we all have our strengths and weaknesses, thus we all have something to share. Especially in the groups, everyone here seems to be supportive.
I really like the colours in the sky, but I feel like it's taking up a little too much of the frame. As for the silhouette, they usually work a little better when they have a more distinct shape or something prominent for the eyes to focus on. The one in this image just looks like a blob with some trees on top, so there's not much information to spark any interest.
Here's an example of a silhouette shot I took about 2 years ago. It's not a flawless image, but it's a good example of how best to use a silhouette, at least in my opinion.
I look forward to your next photo!
