No camera

how many of you keep your camera on you at all times you never want to miss that shot and you have it by your side every minute of the day driving out wherever you are so you can take that shot that you don't want to miss?
this is a cell phone shot with my really bad cell phone and I wish I had my camera.

That would be impossible, because it wouldn't just be my camera and I don't have a car. I'd have to walk around with my tripod, remote trigger, possibly 2 lenses to get the best focal length, haha.

Haha yeah, like I said, my backpack with 3 zoom lenses ranging from 14 to 200mm. Sick, I know ;-)

lol ...vespa? yeah thats a bit to carry you'd look like yukon cornelius in japan lol

I've had some form of a camera at my side since the late 60's. Currently this is the longest I've went without a camera as my current camera has reached it's expiration date and I'm not willing to stoop to using a cell phone image. Live and learn.

I think the latest phone cameras are a good substitute to not having a real camera by your side always.I have a dashcam that I don't use. Perhaps I should. That is not a bad solution.

Guilty as charged. I always have my backpack at the ready, that's how I could take this rose shot during lunch break.

I don't keep my main camera with me at all times, but I do take it on any trip I take from extended to day trips. But I always have my iPhone 8 on me and frankly it takes great pics! Treat it like a regular camera when composing, don't think of it as inferior, and you can get nice shots. Lots of pros take smart phone pics for their Instagram feeds etc.

Below was taken with iPhone 8 last summer. I'd love to have snapped it with my Lumix, but I'm happy with what I got even on the phone.

very nice for a cell phone obviously you can't make a print of an image off a cell phone thats what sparked my curiosity as to if others carried their good cameras

Just another reason you need either a point and shoot or a small EF-M or Alpha series camera as a back up.

Joseph, something you should consider even if you purchase the M series camera with a 22mm pancake lens

yeah I'm saving for a real camera and quality glass I'm probably going to keep mine on me more often at this point but I'm curious to see how the market responds with everyone going mirrorless

Agreed, but with several of the older mirrorless going bye bye.. our (your) options are going to be limited. Best find something soon as canon and others are going to switch gears and head into a different direction.

I've been a nikon user for years now but i gotta say i do like the fudges build and quality so i could be switching but currently i have my mind set on the D750 and at least 3 or 4 lenses problem is trying to save for a hobby with 4 kids having real necessities in life ....daddy always loses

Joseph, just wanted to add. I went into that topic about the "smartCam" setup which utilizes the android opsys. if you can't stand you current smart phone camera app, perhaps you need to look into the opencamera app as created by Mark Harman https://opencamera.sourceforge.io as this could allow for more options if one must shoot with a smart phone.

I'll check it out thanks I always assumed you were stuck with what came with the phone

Why can't you make a print from a cell phone image? Maybe not anything huge, but you could certainly print a decent image to 8x10 or so, at least from some phones. To be clear, I wish I'd taken that tree shot with my GX8, but I'll probably print the cell phone one to hang in hallway at home anyway.

Assuming the cell image quality is respectable enough to have enlarged to fit the larger format. or instance my LG cell camera is acceptable to some degree for close ups.. as for distance shots, for get it. "Sunflower on Dash" was taken by my wife using her cell phone, yet exit the vehicle and take a picture of the sunflower field.. the cell image was too grainy. Again, the LG cell phone is not known for having great images. Merely for emergency purposes.

maybe with upper lvl phones but not with my piece of shit haha ...i just feel like if your going to take take a shot for a print it should be with a proper tool so it has the best end result

Don't let the tool dictate your art. :P Remember there are prints hanging on gallery walls taken from pinhole cameras!

i loved my pinhole camera ....it was far superior to my phone HAHAHAHAHA

I do miss having my camera kit at times. I did manage to capture these clouds with my phone, iPhone X, yesterday. I will crop and save them for possible use in the future.

I am also considering getting a Fujifilm XF10. It seems interesting and cheaper than upgrading my phone. At least that is what I am telling myself.

Maybe buy a point and shoot. I have a panasonic lumix crop factor with a leica zoom in it. Its 12 mp and i know that a lot of cell phones r now 12 mp now the iphones r getting amazing (althought i dont own one)
