Number one doesn't really have much to look at. For me, it's the old "too much sky" problem that I'm sure every is sick of me talking about, haha. Long story short, skies are great ways to enhance a subject, but don't normally make interesting subjects themselves.
The location in the second one is much more interesting, it has a lot going on, without getting too cluttered. However, the processing is a little strong for me as well. But it kind of looks like a painting from this artist who is kind of popular here in Tokyo, so maybe it works for a specific market!
As for your question, I like waterfalls... so I guess that falls into the landscape category... pun intended.
Number two is a much better composition, but for my tastes way over-processed.
I second what David said.
